Sidra Ashfaque (she/her)

Sidra | Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Welcome! I am Sidra

I am completing my Masters in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University.

I understand beginning therapy can bring a mix of contrasting emotions. You may feel anxious, nervous, vulnerable, or uneasy, while on the other end, it may also bring a sense of relief, hope, and strength. I hope to create a space for you that is warm, safe, collaborative, inclusive, and promotes emotional safety, where you can explore your vulnerabilities without any fears.

My Approach to Therapy

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I aim to build a collaborative and trusting relationship with clients, recognizing them as experts in their own lives as they engage in the journey of self-exploration. My approach is person-centered, trauma-focused, strength-based, and culturally responsive. I value an eclectic approach, drawing on cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based practices to meet the unique needs and goals of clients.

I value working with individuals belonging to diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. Being an immigrant to Canada, I have navigated various challenges upon adjusting to the new environment, which has allowed me to gain insight into the acculturative stress, identity shift, and the grief associated with leaving your loved ones. I aim to create an inclusive space that honours the narratives of immigrants and refugees, recognizes their resilience and hope, and supports them as they navigate systemic barriers.

I offer support to youth and adults with anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, emotional regulation, life transitions, childhood trauma, and grief & loss. Additionally, I offer affirming and strength-based support to neurodivergent clients, with a strong focus on emotional regulation, burnout, and executive functioning.
