Isla (she/her)

Isla | Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi, I’m Isla! I acknowledge that things are probably hard right now, but I’m so proud of you for taking the first step towards putting you first. It is my goal to make this journey as authentic, supportive, and collaborative as possible.

Prior to becoming a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I was a child and youth counsellor as well as in a role part of the supervised visitation network. Both of these roles allowed me to understand the need for human connectedness on a deeper level, as well as from a systems level. These experiences shaped my understanding of a core element in every therapeutic relationship: the need for genuineness, empathy, and respect. Because of this, these values remain at the forefront of my practice. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable, valued, and understood.

What I Support Clients With

I support children, youth, adolescents, and adults as they navigate challenges such as self-esteem, relationships, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, grief and loss, confidence, and other life stressors. I am especially passionate about helping individuals build confidence, manage social pressures, and develop coping strategies.

How I Approach Therapy

Through my own experiences, I know how important it is to feel truly heard when navigating challenges. I am here to walk beside you and support you along the way. You are the author of your own story, and I am here to help you turn the page. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and I aim to create a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, validated, and respected. With warmth and empathy, I will meet you where you are, and together we will build a treatment plan that reflects your values, strengths, and goals.

Outside of my work, I prioritize my own mental health through physical movement and meaningful connection. I enjoy going to the gym, walking my dog, trying new sports and activities, reading, journaling, spending time with people I love, and enjoying good food. These practices ground me and reinforce my belief in the importance of caring for both mind and body.

Currently, I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have completed my M.A. in Counselling Psychology and hold a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Guelph.

Therapeutic Modalities I Use

Since every client’s journey is different, my work revolves around a personalized approach to counselling. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion- Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Through your journey, I aim to equip you with practical skills to help navigate challenges and create meaningful change. By using trauma-informed and strengths-based principles, I focus on helping calm the mind, soothe the body, and restore a sense of control.

Let’s Connect

I’m honoured to be part of your journey. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love to connect with you. Please feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation. It’s a chance to meet, ask questions, and see if working together feels right.
